Biogas to CBG
The biomethane system that is always on.
Perenna builds the system that turns raw biogas into biomethane, which Indian plants sell as compressed biogas (CBG) for vehicles, piped cooking gas and industry. We service every system we build from our own stock of spares, and part of what we earn depends on the gas your plant sells.
01 / The problem
Many plants sell less gas than they make.
A CBG plant earns from the gas it sells. A poor purification system lets methane escape with the carbon dioxide, and a plant whose system stops for a repair or a spare part has to flare its gas until it restarts. Few plants measure these losses, so their owners rarely see them.
Design
Many plants combine equipment from several vendors, each designed on its own. Hydrogen sulphide that gets past the first stage corrodes the compressors and pipes after it.
Measurement
Few plants have calibrated instruments on their gas lines, so their owners can only guess how much methane they lose and where.
Service
Many spares come from abroad, and few suppliers keep them in stock in India. Suppliers earn their money at dispatch, however long the plant runs after that.
02 / The system
One system from the digester to the meter.
Raw biogas from a digester is about 60 % methane. Most of the rest is carbon dioxide, with some water vapour and hydrogen sulphide, which corrode pipes and machines. A Perenna system takes out the hydrogen sulphide and the water, separates the carbon dioxide and delivers CBG that meets the Indian standard, compressed to 250 bar for cylinders or fed into the gas grid.
Design
We design every stage to work with the next and build every system from the same standard parts, so one stock of spares serves every plant.
Measurement
Calibrated instruments measure the gas at each stage. We watch every system remotely and adjust it as the gas changes.
Service
We keep spares and consumables in stock in India, and our own engineers service every system we build.
03 / The audit
We audit your plant for free.
We start with CBG plants that already make gas. Before we propose anything, we measure what your plant loses today.
1 · We measure
An engineer spends a week at your plant with calibrated instruments and measures the gas that goes in and the gas that comes out.
2 · We show the loss
You get a one-page statement of the gas your plant loses and what that costs you in rupees.
3 · You decide
If a new system pays for itself, you can buy it, or Perenna can own and run it and share the extra gas with you.
04 / Contact
Tell us about your plant.
Write to us with your plant’s location, the biogas it makes each day and the purification system it runs today. If you are planning a new CBG plant, we would like to hear from you too.
